DeepGreen: The Gold of the Achaian Land

In Achaia, Greece — a land of endless hills that fade gently into the sea — the olive tree is not just a tree. It is the heart of history, tradition, and daily life. Here, where the Mediterranean sun warms silvery-green leaves and the sea breeze carries the scent of thyme, our extra virgin olive oil, DeepGreen, is born.

The Story of DeepGreen: From the Grove to the Table

DeepGreen begins deep within the olive groves of the Achaian villages and the mountain slopes of Achaia. Here, locals cultivate the Koroneiki and Koutsourelia (Patrinia) varieties with care and respect — varieties prized for their resilience and the exceptional quality of the oil they yield.

The name is no coincidence. DeepGreen takes its name from the deep, vibrant green of the year’s first oil — the early harvest oil, pressed from olives gathered while still unripe and rich in chlorophyll and polyphenols. These natural compounds give the oil its signature colour, along with a peppery flavour and an intense aroma of freshly picked fruit, fresh-cut grass, and tomato.

The Traditional Harvest: A Celebration of Nature and Community

When the first autumn rains arrive, the olive groves come alive. The harvest — a process repeated for centuries — is a true celebration. Entire families, joined by friends and relatives, gather in the fields.

The method remains traditional. Men use long wooden sticks to gently strike the branches, letting the olives fall onto large nets spread beneath the trees, while women and children carefully gather the fruit, separating leaves and twigs from the harvest.

It is hard work, but full of joy — teasing, songs, and stories carry through the day. During breaks, everyone shares the traditional delicacies of the region: crusty bread soaked in olive oil and oregano, olives, local cheese, and wine. This collective effort, this deep connection to land and tradition, is what gives DeepGreen its true value. It is not merely a product — it is the result of the care, hard work, and love of the people of Achaia.

From the Grove to the Olive Mill: The Birth of DeepGreen

Once gathered, the olives are transported to the mill that very same day. There, through cold extraction, the oil is separated without ever being heated — preserving its nutrients, vitamins, and natural aromas.

The result is an extra virgin olive oil of remarkably low acidity, rich in flavour, with the characteristic deep green colour that gives DeepGreen its name. Every drop holds the essence of Achaia: the intensity of the sun, the breeze of the sea, and the soul of its people.
